As cliché as this may sound, flowers are among my absolute favorite things - in nature, and to illustrate.
Early American settlers had a vast range of flora with which to create bouquets. Some of the most popular choices included baby’s breath, carnations, roses, and daffodils, to name a few. Wild grasses and pods were also widely used.

Though not grown in New England, citrus farms were established by American settlers in the late 1760’s. Citrus was consumed in many forms, but it was also used in the prevention of disease.
